Hinterrhein Power Plant selects Prime as sparring partner04.02.2010
The Hinterrhein Power Plant (KHR) in Thusis is renovating its entire facilities. KHR has engaged the Zurich-based communications agency Prime to provide support for the roughly CHF 275 million project by developing a communications strategy as well as implementing numerous measures in the areas of public relations, corporate publishing and corporate design.
Hinterrhein Power Plant AG (KHR) operates the largest combination of energy-generating facilities in canton Graubünden, with the two reservoirs Valle die Lei and Sufers in addition to three central power stations. But in the wake of 45 years in operation, many facility components have reached their technical service life – and now the power plant effectively requires a complete overhaul, with total costs amounting to around CHF 275 million. Restructuring activities are scheduled to begin in winter 2011, and the completion date is set for 2017. The KHR renovation project has sparked considerable interest in the local communities involved as well as the entire canton of Graubünden since hydroelectric power constitutes a key resource for the mountain region. Environmental organisations and fishing associations are keeping a close eye on the project too because it necessitates temporarily draining both reservoirs, among other things.
“We have initiated contact with all parties involved at an early stage in order to facilitate understanding and acceptance of this major project. With Prime, we have found a sparring partner that is able to provide us with professional support in this endeavour at the strategic as well as operational level,” declares KHR Director Guido Conrad. “Indeed, the successfully staged local information events that took place in Andeer and Thusis last autumn – for which Prime provided support – serve as an initial confirmation of good cooperation.”
First steps include measures for website and PR
In the first year of the project, Prime will design among other things a project visual for KHR, expand the www.khr.ch website, launch an internal newsletter as well as implement a series of additional measures in the areas of public relations and public affairs.
Prime employs 30 experts in the fields of public relations, corporate publishing, brand identity and advertising. Since the company was founded, Prime has successfully focussed on an interdisciplinary approach for developing client-specific communications solutions.
